MAPUSA: Pilerne Sports Club eased their way past Cunchelim Sports Club by a comfortable 4-0 margin in the inaugural match of the GFA’s 2nd Division League, played at Duler stadium, here, on Friday.
The winners opened the floodgates in the 10th minute when Sanket Jotkar unleashed a powerful long range shot which landed into the far corner of the Cunchelim goal.
Cunchelim had their fair share of chances however Pilerne keeper Krupesh Bandodkar thwarted Ganesh Poojar from scoring.
While Cunchelim faltered in scoring, Pilerne got in the second goal of the match when Anson D’Souza hoodwinked the rival defenders before firing the ball home to make it 2-0.
Minutes later, Sanket saw his 25-yard shot bang the Cunchelim woodwork and then Anson Dsouza was denied by the keeper from close range.
Changing over, Pilerne continued with their offensive style of play and went on to fire two more goals.
In the 69th minute, Dwayne Britto slotted home the ball from close range while two minutes later, Sanket Jotkar scored from a solo effort to make it 4-0.
