MAPUSA: Pilerne Sports Club managed to edge past Dunes Sports Club 3-2 and enter the final of the 21st Vagator Soccer Cup, at Ozran ground, on Tuesday.
In the ninth minute, Pilerne’s Anand Madgaokar bought down by Vivek Kanulkar of Dunes SC inside the penalty box prompting referee Deep to point to the dreaded spot. Shashank Achrekar converted.
At the other end, Dunes’ Jason Fernandes was brought down by Pilerne’s Anson D’Souza outside the penalty box. A free-kick taken by Samir Agarwadekar sailed over the crossbar.
After the lemon break, Anson D’Souza equalised for Pilerne SC off a pass from Dwayne Britto in the 39th minute with a rasping shot.
In the 42nd minute, Pilerne’s Sanket Jotkar made it 2-1 as he tapped the ball into the goal off a corner.
Three minutes later, Pilerne SC scored their third goal off the boots of Sanket Jotkar to make it 3-1.
Dunes SC scored their second goal off a neat header from Stephelton Fernandes from a corner taken by Shashank Achrekar to make it 3-2.
In the 60th minute, Stephelton Fernandes’ cross was headed by Shashank Achrekar but Pilerne keeper Kurpesh Bandodkar made a timely save.
