Pilerne began the match on an attacking note and almost shot ahead in the seventh minute but Suraj Sauthankar’s powerful shot was saved by a Candolim defender.
Pilerne were lucky to forge ahead off a penalty converted by Royston Pereira after a rival defender handled the ball in the danger zone.
Trailing by a goal, Candolim went all out in search of the equalizer but a goal eluded them. Sigmund Silveira had a golden opportunity to draw level but shot straight into the hands of the rival keeper.
