Pilerne SC lashes out at biased refereeing, ground invasion

PANJIM: Pilerne Sports Club lodged a complaint with the GFA alleging that the match officials supervising their Second Division Bardez Zone match against PVC Association, Parra, were inept and biased, leading to crowd invasion which forced the referee to change the decision at Parra ground, on April1. Pilerne lost 1-2.

In their complaint, Pilerne’s official, Santosh Bandodkar alleged that his team was at the receiving end at the hands of the referee and assistant referee with many questionable decisions. And, worse was that after the match officials were pressurised by the opponent’s players and crowd which invaded the ground, the referee reversed the decision.

Bandodkar referred to the incident wherein the referee continued the proceedings, but the match was stopped for a good 15-20 minutes due to Parra substitute players and spectators invading the field claiming that Parra had scored a goal.

Pilerne stated that surprisingly, the decision of not declaring a goal initially, was overturned and a goal given which was against the principles of fair reasoning and judgment.

Pilerne alleged that there was no reason to change the original decision of not awarding a goal since the assistant referee, who was in the best position, did not indicate it as a goal. So, there was no question of changing the decision thereafter, stressed Pilerne.

Pilerne alleged that the match officials were pressurised to change the original decision due to intimidation from the opponent’s team players as well as spectators. Such an action, left our players intimated and threatened, Pilerne pointed out.

Pilerne pleaded that the performance of the match officials be strictly evaluated and action initiated against biased and inept supervision.

Pilerne has not lodged a protest since the decisions of the referee are final and binding, but preferred to lodge a complaint on ground of breach of security.

It is alleged that the Match Commissioner and some GFA members were inside the ground discussing the incident when the proceedings were halted following which the referee awarded a goal in favour of Parra.
