MAPUSA/RAIA: Pilerne SC trounced United Boys of Ambaulim by 10-2 margin in the GFA’s Second Division playoff league and qualified for the coming season First Division League, held at Cansaulim ground, here, on Wednesday.
For the winners, Sainesh Gaonkar netted a hattrick with Sandesh Kavlekar (2), Uttkarsh Gauns (2), Pratik Tirodkar and Dharshan Pujari adding their names to the scorers list, while for Ambaulim colts Royston Fernandes and Shivam Vilip scored.
In another match, FC Goa got the better of Benfica YC, 3-1, played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday. Shawn Fernandes netted a brace in the 57th & 70th minute while Franson Furtado netted one in the 52nd minute. The only goal for Benfica was scored by Chrisval Gonsalves in the 78th minute.
Pilerne and FC Goa finished their playoff matches with seven points each. But Pilerne with better goal difference made it to the First Division League.
