MAPUSA: Pilerne Sports Club got the better of hosts Saligao Sporting Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to cruise into the finals of 8th Reira Cup Soccer at Saligao ground, Friday. The teams were locked 1-1 at full time.
Saligao Sporting took an unlikely lead in the 10th minute after Sheikh’s powerful free-kick was nodded into his own goal by a Pilerne SC defender.
After working their socks off, Pilerne managed to equalize after resumption through Joelif Simoes’ free-kick to force a penalty shoot-out. Royston, Sairaj, Ryan and Joelif scored for Pilerne SC while Jaison, Sheikh and Miranda converted for Saligao Sporting. Pilerne SC will take on Siolim-Sodiem Sports and Cultural in the finals slated for March 8.
