MAPUSA: Pilerne Sport Club registered a thumping 5-0 win over Vagator PYSC in the seventh round league match of the GFA’s 2nd Division League played at Duler stadium here on Friday.
After Friday’s win, Pilerne has 13 points while Vagator PYSC stays on 10 points.
Pilerne outfit came with series of attack pinning their opponents mostly inside their own territory and went into the breather with three goals lead.
In the seventh minute with an excellent free-kick by Pilerne’s Rajat Chopdekar was superbly fisted for a corner by Vagator keeper Sanket Gaonkar.
Pilerne drew their first blood in the 14th minute where a fumble inside the penalty box by Vagator’s defender Maldar saw Chaitan Dabholkar who was lurking nearby slam the ball into the goal to give his side the lead.
Vagator’s best efforts came in the 19th minute to level terms but Raj Jadhav failed to score from close.
At the other end, Pilerne pumped in two quick goals. In the 31st minute, Stanly D’Souza got hold of a ball from Rajat and guided the ball into the goal, while three minutes later Yeshwant dribbled past two of the Vagator defenders and set the ball to unmarked Prakash Rathod whose left footer strike hit the back of the nylons to make it 3-0.
On resumption of play, Pilerne outfit pumped in their fourth goal. A free-kick by substitute Siddhant was fisted by the Vagator keeper and the ball travelled to Dwayne Britto whose 40-yard shot crashed into the net to make it 4-0.
Vagator did try to come back into the match but a rasping strike by Nihal hit the Pilerne’s crossbar and rebounded into play.
Raj Jadhav missed number of chances for Vagator or else the score tally would have read differently.
Pilerne netted in their fifth goal from the penalty spot through Yeshwant More, when substitute Viraj was tackled by Vagator’s defender.
Meanwhile at Taleigao ground, Young Boys of Tonca downed Sateri Sports Club 3-1.
Amlesh Shirodkar bagged a brace while Shubham Morajkar scored the other goal for the winning side. Gaurav Adkonkar pulled a goal back for the losing side.
Elsewhere, at Agassaim ground, Shree Nagesh Maharudra Sports & Cultural Club defeated Aivao United FC 2-0. Shubham Verenkar put his side ahead in the 22nd minute and then Kishor Talwar doubled the lead in injury time to give Shree Nagesh all three points.
