NAGOA: Pimpalvaddo Boys defeated Sonarvaddo Boys A 3-1 to move into the final of the Nagoa Panchayat inter-ward football tournament played at Nagoa Panchayat ground, Verna, on Sunday.
In the 4th minute itself, Sonarvaddo A should have netted the first goal of the match through Jesloy power-packed shot but was denied by Pimpalvaddo Boys post. At the other end, Pimpalvaddo through Myron should have found the ball at the back of Sonarvaddo A net but a timely tackle from Rynal of Sonarvaddo.
Minutes later, Sonarvaddo through Joseph and Remy moves were timely foiled by Alwin and Reendy of Pimpelvaddo from their defence line.
Pimpalwaddo’s Alwin Fernandes took control of the ball from Carmo who dribbled past a couple of Sonarvaddo defenders and shot from the top of the Sonvarvado box which crushed into the Sonavarvaddo net to open the account in the 7th minute.
Within eight minutes, Flyson Fernandes’ long ranger hit the inside cross bar of Sonarvaddo to make it 2-0 for Pimpalvaddo.
Minutes later, a sudden move from Alwin Fernandes netted one more from the left flank after foxing a couple of Sonarvaddo defenders who then shot to make it 3-0 for Pimpalvaddo in the 25th minute.
As Pimpalvaddo were leading by 3-0, the ball was mostly confined in the midfield and taking advantage of this situation Jesloy Moniz of Sonarvaddo snatched the ball from Jesvin and slammed his left footer which travelled safely into Pimpalvaddo Boys net to make it 1-3.
In another match, Sonarvaddo Boys B defeated Castelwaddo Boys 2-1 to move into the final.
Nester D’Cunha and Micheal netted a goal each for Sonarvaddo B in the 12th and 16th minutes, while Franky pulled a goal back for Castelwaddo in the 39th minute.
