PANJIM: The 4th edition of the Pioneering Ventures Tri Kids Goa triathlon event will be held on December 8 at the Peddem sports complex, Mapusa.
Enduro Sports Goa stated that registrations for the event have begun with the announcement of an ‘early bird’ scheme. Early registrants will be entitled to a 15% discount on the fees until August 31.
The popular triathlon event is open for children in the age group of 6-15 years and will see them take part in the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running to be completed in succession. This year, the organisers are also introducing, Aquathlon, a sport which involves the twin disciplines of swimming and running for the same age group.
In his statement, Elias Patel, co-founder, Enduro Sports Goa said that the aim of the event was to promote and encourage sports and fitness amongst children, so as to develop a healthy and positive lifestyle. “We provide a safe and high quality event for aspiring young athletes to begin their journey in triathlon and aquathlon,” Elias said.
According to Michelle Gouveia, co-founder, Enduro Sports Goa, informed that the event would be held between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the afternoon and the event was open to children between the ages of 6-15 years (as of 30.11.2019). “There will be three age categories i.e., 6-8 years, 9-11 years and 12-15 years with distances being tailored for each age category. Winners will be gender segregated,” Michelle said.
Ronald Fernandes, partner,Enduro Sports Goa said that the event was being conducted in association with the Sports Authority of Goa.
