RAIA: Poitomado, Cuncolim, triumphed over CACSS, Cansaulim, with a 9-1 victory to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup 2024, organised by union of Chinchinim villagers, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Thursday.
Poitomado got off to a quick start, with Daulat Dessai scoring in the 1st minute by tapping in a rebound past the diving Cansaulim goalkeeper, making it 1-0. They maintained their attacking momentum, and in the 6th minute, Dailon Carvalho neatly finished to extend the lead to 2-0.
Further goals came from Jollyton Fernandes, Mathew Fernandes, and Trijoy Dias, who scored in the 16th, 18th, and 19th minutes, respectively, bringing the score to 5-0. Cansaulim made efforts to fight back, but Poitomado’s goalkeeper saved a strong attempt by Alrico. Regan Soares managed to score for Cansaulim in the 22nd minute, reducing the deficit to 5-1. At halftime, the score remained 5-1 in favour of Poitomado.
In the second half, Poitomado continued to dominate. Daulat Dessai netted his second goal, while Bradly Carvalho, Vayne Pires, and Alister Fernandes each added to the tally, concluding the match with a final score of 9-1.
