MARGAO: A splendid four goal blitz including a hat-trick by striker Polly Oliveira helped Deao Sports Club thump St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 5-1 in Group A of Salcete zone GFA Third Division football league, at Paroda ground, Thursday. Deao Sports Club led 4-1 at the breather.
Deao dominated the sessions match and kept their rivals on the tenterhooks.
Polly, who was a fulcrum in the attacks, opened the flood gates in the 14th minute. However, their joy was short-lived as Agnas Vaz neutralized in the 17th minute for St Anthony.
Unfazed, Deao did not wait for long and in the 38th minute, Polly struck for the second time and soon completed his hat trick after he punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Subsequently, he blasted home to add four goals in his kitty.
After resumption, Deao continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and Aviton D’Costa rounded off the tally soon.
In Group D at DYSA ground, Curtorim, St Sebastian Youth Club, Fatorda came from behind to hold Sporting Club of Davorlim in a 1-1 draw.
Davorlim went into the lead in the 20th minute when Rosefern Miranda placed the ball to the far corner of the net while Viincent Barbosa cancelled the lead at the stroke of the lemon break.
Yesterday, St Sebastian Sports Club grounded Dramapur Sports Club 12-0.
