CANACONA: Electricity Sub-Division II, Ponda thumped Power Minister XI by 18 runs to emerge champions of 1st All-Goa Power Minister Electricity Department inter-sub-division tennis ball cricket tournament organized by Canacona Electricity sub-division-III at SAG ground, Saturday.

Ponda piled up 25 for the loss of three wickets in four overs.
In reply, Power Minister’s XI managed a meager nine runs with the loss of four wickets.
Trophy’s and cash awards were given to the winners and runners-up.
Deepraj, Power Minister’s XI was adjudged best bowler of the tournament. Vishal, Sub-Division, Ponda II was declared best batsmen.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Milind Naik, MLA in the presence of Ramesh Tawadkar, MLA; Ajay Bhagat, chairperson, Canacona Municipal Council, Navneet Naik Gaunkar, sarpanch, Agonda panchayat; Bhushan Prabhugaonkar, sarpanch, Loliem panchayat; Sapnesh Dessai, panch, Agonda panchayat; Rama Naik Gaunkar, councilor and Vallabh Tengse, panch, Poinguinim panchayat.
An exhibition match was played between Power Minister’s and Sports Minister’s teams. Power minister’s team won by 10 runs.
Milind Naik scored an unbeaten eight runs, while Ramesh Tawadkar conceded two sixes, one four and a couple of runs in his over.
