The all-important goal was scored by Remy Colaco in the second half. The match was equally fought but the home team had the advantage over the Goan outfit.
Vishant Pednekar’s shot hit the crossbar and off the rebound, Remy placed the ball into the net giving no opportunity to the Kolkata keeper. Kolkata tried their level best to equalize but the Ponda Veterans defense and Anand under the goal was at their best. The Man-of-the-Match award went to Vishant Pednekar.
In the semis-finals, Ponda Football Veterans defeated East Kolkata Veterans, Kolkata 2-1.
At half time, East Kolkata led by a goal scored by Hiru Bhatarjee.
The Goan team came back strongly in the second half with Bruno Coutinho equalizing off a pass from Agnelo Fonseca.
Soon, Ponda took the lead when Remy Colaco released a well measured pass to Vishant Pednekar to score the winning goal and take the Goan team into the finals.
