CALANGUTE: Ponda Veterans defeated Panjim Veterans 2-0 to move into the semi-finals of 3rd all-India Veterans football tournament organised by Tuff Veterans in association with PVC Parra, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Friday.
After an even contest during the first quarter of the match, Minguel D’Souza gave Ponda the lead by beating the rival keeper with a fine solo run.
Trailing by a goal, Panjim tried to bounce. Their midfielder di well to supply their frontline bank but their forwards failed to find the net. Ponda added another in the dying minutes of the match to secure victory.
