RAIA: Povação/Dignem/Manzo defeated Old Mardol 3-2 via tie-breaker in the final to clinch the 1st 7-a-side football tournament organised by United Club of Verna, at Verna church ground, on Sunday.
The highly anticipated final, between Povação/Dignem/Manzo and Old Mardol lived up to expectations, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager to witness the show down.
Both the teams displayed exceptional skills and determination, making for a gripping contest that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. After a hard-fought match, the game remained deadlocked leading to a nail-biting tie-breaker. Povação/Dignem/Manzo ultimately emerged victorious winning the shootout 3-2.
Tony D’Costa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour Verna Police Station Police Inspector Melson Colaco, special invitees Holy Cross Church, Verna, Parish Priest Fr Lucio Dias; Assistant Parish Priests Dr Dyrel Dias and Fr Royal Raposo; other dignitaries and club officials.
