CALANGUTE: Prateek Mahajan got the better of Sunny Sawant in the Men’s singles at the 6th All-Goa Badminton tournament, organized by Sai Parra Cricketers Sports and Cultural Association, Parra, recently.
In the ladies single’s event, Shilpa Caldeira beat Marina Albuquerque to win the coveted title. The PVC title for Men was claimed by Swapnil Mahadeshwar, beating Somesh Parsekar while Mithlesh Sonpath won the PVC U-13 title by getting the better of Ashmeet Parsekar.
In the doubles event, Dattaprasad and Floyd Araujo defeated Nilesh and Prateek Mahajan to lay their hands on the coveted trophy while Anjana and Prateek beat Vrushali and Floyd in the mixed doubles event. In the veterans doubles, Willy and Ayub got better of Manoj and Roy in the final to claim the trophy.
The MLA of Calangute Constituency, Michael Lobo was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Sarpanch of Parra, Delilah Lobo; footballers Denzil Franco (Atletico de Kolkata), Mandar Rao Dessai (FC Goa) and other dignitaries.
Calangute ZP Shawn Martins; SAG badminton coach, Vinayak Kamat; Roy Athaid; Victor Vaz, National Director of Special Olympics Bharat and others were also present.
