Prestley books semis berth for Don Bosco College

PANJIM: Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda scored a solitary goal victory over strong contenders Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim to make it to the semi-finals of the ACF Trophy organized by Herald Group in Association with Syngenta India Pvt Ltd,.

Don Bosco tried to capitalise earlier on after Rosary College defender Alson Fernandes made an unusual error but Constancio Rodrigues saved the day for the team by thwarting the danger. 
10 minutes later, Prestley Gomes, did well to beat his marker in the right flank and shot towards the goal but his effort was well saved by Rosary College goalkeeper Canute D’Mello. 
Don Bosco College finally took the lead in the 18th minute after they got a free-kick which was taken by Fraizer Rogtao into the Rosary College penalty area. Lack of communication between the rival goalkeeper and defenders allowed Prestley to capitalise on the error by heading home, much to the delight of the Don Bosco College camp. 
In the counter attack, Rosary College missed a great opportunity to equalise when Simon Dias received the ball but he shot wide. Five minutes later, another attempt by Macedomio Colaco was well saved by Don Bosco College goalkeeper Deston Colaco. 
In the second half, Prestley almost doubled the lead for Don Bosco as he sprinted past a couple of Rosary College defenders and shot towards the goal but his attempt was bravely saved by Canute, who injured himself in the bargain. Towards the fag end, Rosary College went all out to get the equalizer. They almost levelled when Steve Fernandes received the ball but failed to finish effectively as he shot at the side netting. 
The Don Bosco College defence showed a lot of composure and discipline to maintain their 1-0 lead. 
The match official finally blew the final whistle bringing great joy to Don Bosco College of Engineering, who set up an all engineering semi-final against PCCE Verna, scheduled on November 11, at the same venue.
