Priority Titans win Sarsangan badminton league title

MARGAO: Team Priority Titans emerged champions in late Pundalika Shenoy Memorial Sarsangan Premier Badminton League beating Team AK Smashers 4-1 in the finals at SAG stadium, Fatorda.

Team Sultan of Shuttles picked the third place getting past Team The Acers 4-2.

Pranjal Chimulkar and Chinmay Kamat gave the Priority Titans a winning start with a 21-8 win against AK Smashers mixed doubles team of Sanvi Kelekar and Kapil Kamat.

Priority Titans went up 2-0 as the men’s doubles pair of Sharang Kamat and Sohan Kelekar put it across Gaurish Borker and Akshay Prabhu 21-18.

 AK Smashers came back fighting in the third game of men’s doubles with icon player Sanath Kamat and Chandan Sinai Kenkre winning 21-19 against Chinmay Kamat and Ganesh Pai Vernekar.

The men’s doubles combination of Priority Titans consisting of Dinesh Pai and Swapneel Nachinolkar convincingly beat Guruprasad Khandeparkar and Deepankar Naik 21-12 to give them a 3-1 lead.

Parasmay Praveen Shenoy won the fifth game 21-15 by beating Rishi Shiraj Pai Khot in the boys singles to give an unassailable 4-1.

The left handed duo of Pranjal Chimulkar and Chinmay Kamat were adjudged best players of the tournament. Badminton coach Vinayak Kamat was felicitated by V M Prabhudessai. Mohit Redkar, Rishi Shiraj Pai Khot were also felicitated.

 Priority Titans won Rs 50,000 and gold medals. AK Smashers won the first runners-up trophy and Rs.30,000 and silver medals. 

 Meanwhile, the Sarsangan regular badminton and table tennis tournaments will be held in mid-October. The Sarsangan 7-a-side futsal tournament has been planned for October 1.

 Haresh Kakodkar welcomed. Vaibhav Kamat compered the function. Parasmay Shenoy proposed the vote of thanks.
