PVC Assn down Saligao United; Siolim Sodiem win big

PANJIM: PVC Association downed Saligao United 2-0 in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match, at Anjuna ground, on Sunday.
Both the goals came in the first half of the play, through Rowell Pinto and Shadab Shaikh.
In another match at Chapora ground, Siolim Sodiem prevailed over Sai Avtar SC in a high scoring match. Siolim won 9-3.
Sahil Vernekar scored three while Gitesh Vaigankar netted a brace. Sadashiv M, Anselm D’Souza, Aviraj M and Pankesh G were the other scorers for the winning side. Meanwhile, Sai Avtar scored through Prabhakar Parab, Rohit Harijan and a Swapnil own-goal.
At Assonora ground, Goan Warriors FC beat Kelbai SC 2-0. Craig Menezes and Faizal Shaikh scored in the either halves of the play for the winning side.
On Saturday, Benny XI beat Friends XI 5-0. Manthan Parwar scored a brace.
 U-16 League
Salcete FC scored a fluent 6-0 win over Verna Sports Club in the Goa Football Association U-16 League match, at Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda, on Sunday.
M Pereira was the hero for the Salcete club as he netted a hat-trick. Sherwin Vaz scored two while Rio Fernandes also got onto the score sheet for the winners.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, Sirlim Sports Club recorded a thrilling 4-2 win over United Boys of Ambaulim.
After the match began on equal footing, Sirlim SC managed to take the lead at the half-hour mark through Diptesh Gaonkar. Once a goal up,  Sirlim SC were totally a dominating side and soon doubled the account through Aggi Da Costa. 
The winners led 2-0 at the break. Crossing over, Diptesh scored his second to take his side 3-0 up in the game. 
However, Ambaulim didn’t give up and fought gallantly and scored two goals through Aleino Fernandes and Sydney Fernandes.
 The goals changed the scenario of the match as UB Ambaulim pressed hard in search of the equaliser.
 But, in a bid to find the leveller, Ambaulim were left exposed in defence and Diptesh scored his third of the day in injury time.
