PVC down FC Siolim

MAPUSA: PVC Parra fought gallantly to score a narrow 2-1 win over Football Club of Siolim in the third round match of the GFA’s 2nd Division League, played at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.

MAPUSA: PVC Parra fought gallantly to score a narrow 2-1 win over Football Club of Siolim in the third round match of the GFA’s 2nd Division League, played at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.
Siolim surged ahead in the eight minute when Rajesh Pomburphekar’s powerful strike from the edge of the box crashed into the far end of the Parra goal.
On resumption, Parra finally got their acts together and were all over the Siolim  territory. In the 67th minute Rowell Pinto equalized for Parra after heading in a cross from Joaquim.
The all-important goal for Parra came in the 76th minute through Sankesh Harmalkar.
Sankesh pounced on a defensive lapse by Siolim stopper back and drilled in the ball past the outstretched hands of keeper Sarvesh Phadte.
Siolim came teasingly close to levelling terms in the injury time of the match however Parra keeper Suresh Lamani came to his sides rescue to deny Pushparaj Mandrekar from scoring in a one-to-one situation.
