PVC overcome Milagres

CALANGUTE: PVC Association, Parra overcame Milagres Sports Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of Candolim Village Panchayat Cup football tournament organized by Candolim Sports Club at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, Monday.

Enjoying a slight edge over Milagres, Parra took the lead in the fifth minute Joaquim Pacheco whose rasping drive off Atish Mirajkar beat the rival goalkeeper Jude Fernandes. 

Trailing by a goal, Milagres came close to drawing level but Krishna’s try went inches over the crossbar. Parra almost doubled the lead but Milagres goalkeeper Jude came to his side’s rescue and denied the opposition.

Changing over, Parra doubled the lead through Joseph Pacheco off Rohit Pinto.  Down by two goals, Milagres went all-out and created scoring opportunities but their forwards Krishna and Noel fumbled in front of the goal. 

Milagres were able to reduce the margin thanks to a self goal by a Parra defender.
