MAPUSA: PVC Parra registered a 5-4 win over Pilerne Sports Club to enter the semi-finals of the Pio Jose Gouveia Memorial Cup, organised by Youth Sports Club Colvale, played at Colvale ground here on Monday.
Parra forged ahead in the 25th minute through Faizal Sheikh who took advantage of a blunder by Pilerne keeper Krupesh Bandodkar and scored with a neat tap in, 1-0.
On crossing over in the 48th minute, Pilerne equalised through a smart header from Sarvesh Kanekar off Dwayne Britto’s cross beating Parra keeper Ritesh Narvekar 1-1. The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
In the penalty shootout Parra won by 4-3 margin and will now meet St Anthony’s SC Marna on December 23 in the semi-finals.
Pilerne SC’s Sarvesh Kanekar bagged the Man-of-the-Match award.
