MAPUSA: PVC Association, Parra struggled before coming from behind to hold Holy Cross SC, Arambol to a 1-1 draw in the GFA’s Second Division League football match, at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
In the 32nd minute, Arambol managed to break the deadlock when Amit Fernandes sent in a pinpoint pass to Shashank Ashwekar, who on weaving his way past the rival defence drilled in a low grounder which had no answer from the rival keeper.
Changing ends, Parra did not wait for long and managed to find the equalizer within three minutes when Edwin Viegas charged down the left flank and sent in a low cross to Kalpeh Naik who made no mistake to slot the ball home.
Arambol came up with several threatening moves in search of the match winning goal but Sandesh Sawant saw his well executed 30-yard free-kick being acrobatically collected by Parra keeper Suresh Lamani and then Vivek Naik saw his header from hand-shaking distance go just over the Parra crossbar.
