MAJORDA: Parish Youth Nuvem emerged winners of the 19th Fr Basilio Andrade memorial football tournament, after defeating Betalbatim SC 6-5 vie the tie-breaker, organised by A A De Majorda, played at Musson ground, Majorda, on Sunday.
Both the teams played 1-1 draw during the regulation time. As both the teams played an attacking football, Nuvem took the lead in the 6th minute through John Barreto. After that Betalbatim mounted pressure and tried hard to get the equaliser and managed to get in the 20th minute through Clifford Miranda header, which crushed at the far corner of the net.
Betalbatim exerted pressure on Parish Youth Nuvem in the last quarter with Clifford, Manushawm and Oliver combining well but could not convert into goals. The teams were tied 1-1 for which the tie- breaker system was applied and Parish Youth Nuvem proved to better shooters.
The scorers for Nuvem were Richard Colaco, Shubert Colaso, Stephen Colaco, Ceder Colaco and Sanford Colaco. For Betalbatim, Klusner Periera, Oliver D’souza, Clifford Miranda And Dylan Rodriguez were on target.
Chief Guest Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim constituency gave away the prizes in the presence of Wilfred D’Sa, MLA Nuvem constituency and Nelly Rodriguez , ZP Member (Colva Constituency), Agnelo Alcasoas, Ex- Secretary GFA and other dignitaries and club officials.
