RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem blanked Calangute Association 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 47th All Goa Custodio Memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Nuvem netted the first goal of the match in the second minute through Stephen Colaco’s downward header off Myron Borges cross from the right flank.
At the other end, Calangute Association through Namresh Kundikar should have netted but the latter’s shot failed to pop into Nuvem nets in the 6th minute off Runnaal Shirodkar’s assist.
Nuvem went on all guns blazing and netted two more goals through Myron Borges and Merriston Coutinho in the 8th and 12th minutes respectively.
In the second half, Nuvem defended well and blocked the Nuvem strikers’ shots to maintain a 3-0 lead.
Calangute Association tried to get back in the game but their strikers fumbled with the chances that were created by their teammates.
Parish Youth Nuvem will now meet Betalbatim SC in the quarter-finals on July 15.
