SOLVA-RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem trounced Ambelim Sports Club 3-0 to emerge champions of the 48th Custodio memorial inter-village football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia Panchayat ground, Raia on Monday.
The highlight of the final was a superb hat-trick by Myron Borges.
Parish Youth Nuvem dominated the match and surged ahead in the 12th minute through Myron Borges. He doubled the lead in the 69th minute and completed his hat-trick in the next minute.
Parish Youth Nuvem were richer by Rs 48,000 and a trophy while Ambelim SC had to content with Rs 35,000 plus trophy.
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Fr Conceicao Silva, Parish Priest of OL of Snows Church and Evancio Quadros – MD of Quadros Group, Fatima Gauncar, ZP Member, Ernesto Moniz, Eng.and social worker, Prof I.S Mirza CHE, Benjamin Silva ex MLA Velim, Anthony Fernandes, Sanrita Coelha, both Executive members of GFA, Aluiz Fernandes and Andrew Ferrao and other dignitaries.
Earlier, Savio Gomes president of Raia SC and Ex-Sarpanch of Raia welcomed the gathering.
