MARGAO: Parish Youth, Nuvem registered a fluent 3-0 win over St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva to cruise into the quarter-finals of South Goa Mc Dowell’s No.1 Soda Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Enfermos Sports Club, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
Parish Youth led 2-0 at half time. Parish Youth dominated the game and pushed their opponents on the back foot and their forwards trouble the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Persistent forays bore the fruits in the 12th minute when Rolland Colaco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Spurred by the early success, Parish Youth intensified their attacks and fired couple of pot shots. Inacio Colaco doubled the lead when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish.
At the other hand, St Anthony’s Sports Club were subdued and rarely attack the rival goal.
Post resumption, Parish Youth continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and the ball possessions. Remy Colaco drove the last nail into rival coffin with stiff grounder in the 40th minute.
Down by 0-3, St Anthony’s Sports Club suffered a jolt midway in the second half when their striker Jovisco Fernandes was red carded after he received the second yellow by Referee Merwyn Telles. They tried their best to reduce the deficits but failed to get past the rival rearguard.
