RAIA: Parish Youth Nuvem defeated CAC Cansaulim, 5-3, via the tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the 13th Cana-Benaulim Panchayat cup inter-village football tournament, organised by UC Benaulim and played at St John Baptista ground, Dando-Benaulim.
PY Nuvem enjoyed more ball possession but could not find goal with striker Melvin Fernandes was wasteful. Nuvem’s winger Shenoy Colaco worked his way through the rival defense but his feeble attempt went straight into the rival goalkeeper Jovito D’Souza. After the change of ends, Parish Youth Nuvem almost got the elusive goal when striker Joywin Costa’s long ranger shot struck the cross piece and went out. A minute later Shenoy sent Joywin inside the box but again the striker loose shot went out.
After a barren full session – PY Nuvem were successful through Alvito Dias, Richard Colaco, Jonas Colaco, Joywin Costa and Alloid Colaco while Chadwick Furtado, Elvino Fernandes and Aaron Fernandes found the mark for CAC Cansaulim.
Ashwin Fernandes of CAC Cansaulim was adjudged as man-of-the-match.
