PY Nuvem to meet St Anthony SC in quarters

BENAULIM: Parish Youth Nuvem got the better of Gloria SC, Raia 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter finals of the 27th Super Soccer inter-village football tournament at the St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Thursday.

The first chance came for Parish Youth Nuvem in the very fourth minute through Aldrich Pereira but his shot went wide. Oilex Oliveira squandered a goal scoring opportunity in the 6th minute for Gloria SC.
Soon, Neves Noronha of Parish Youth Nuvem made an attempt in the rival goal with a header off a cross from Godfrey Mascarenhas but it hit the cross piece of Gloria SC and went out of play. 
Aldrich, who was the chief orchestrator, in the 10th minute with his right-footed drive created a dangerous move into the rival box but the goalkeeper Trilio Dias of Gloria SC was equal to the task.
Johny D’Cruz of Gloria SC dogged some of the rival defenders and took a rasping drive which was saved by goalkeeper of Parish Youth Nuvem Joel Colaco. 
Later, Melroy Dias and Lyod Cardoza missed chances for Gloria SC in the 29th and 31st minutes.
Change of ends saw Gloria SC dominating the session with Lyod taking good control of the ball through Oilex inside the rival box in the 37th minute but Meriston Coutinho, defender of Parish Youth Nuvem blocked his move.
Gloria SC’s Melroy failed to connect Oilex inside the rival box in the 39th minute. Immediately, Gloria SC in the 41st minute attempted to score through Oilex, as he served the ball to Lyod but the latter’s powerless shot was cleared to safety by Godfrey of Parish Youth Nuvem.
At the end of normal time, both the teams were held to a goalless draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Parish Youth Nuvem netted through Neves Noronha, Inacio Colaco, Godfrey Mascarenhas, Joel Colaco, Aldrich Pereira and Alvares while Gloria SC were on target with the efforts of Daniel Gomes, Roman Gomes, Gomes, Melroy Dias and Jose. Parish Youth Nuvem will meet St Anthony SC, Assolda in the quarter-finals on July 4.
