PANJIM: Piedade Youth Association, Divar defeated Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim 4-1 in the GFA Under-16 League match played at Dr Remigio Pinto ground, Taleigao, on Monday.
In a match dominated by Piedade Youth Association, Don Bosco rattled the rival defence in the initial stages. In the bargain, Captain Vishal Vargoankar handled the ball just outside the penalty area and off the resultant free kick Darren Andrade put Don Bosco Oratory ahead 1-0.
But the joy was short-lived as defence splitting pass by Alden D’Souza helped striker Philip Paul equalise for PYA giving no chance to Don Bosco Oratory keeper. Thereafter, Xavier put PYA ahead when he headed home a corner taken by Vishal.
At half time, PYA were leading 2-1.
In the second half, PYA did not allow Don Bosco Oratory to make inroads in their defence line. Later, Philip Paul and Pranav Madkaikar netted one each to complete the rout.
For PYA, Vishal, Nayan Mashelkar, Russel Vaz and Xavier played excellent while Nolan Rodrigues and Omkar Parwar performed well for Don Bosco Oratory.
