PANJIM: Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, won the men’s title and Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, won the Women Cross Country Championship 2024-25 organised by Goa University, at Goa University campus, Taleigao Plateau, recently.
In men’s section, Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College finished with 28 points to claim the winner’s position. The Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce was awarded the second position with 39 points. The third position winner was MES’s Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, with 70 points.
In the women’s section, the Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce was awarded the first position by finishing with 18 points, followed by Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College and Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, won the second and third positions respectively.
The event involved a 10km run, which was flagged off by Dr Rajan Mathew, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Government College, Quepem
Chief guest for the presentation ceremony was Dr Savio Leitao, while Balachandra Jadar, assistant director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, graced the occasion and presented the trophies and medals to the winners.
Results: Individual – men’s section – 1st place Suraj Velip (33:25.00), Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona. 2nd Suraj Yadav (34:24.00), Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem. 3rd Ganesh Tamburkar (37:10.00), Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao.
Women’s section – 1st place Ayan Soares (43:46.00), Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim; 2nd Sakshi Kale (46.17.00), Government College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Khandola; 3rd Siya Naik (46:20.00), Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem.
