PANJIM: Quepem Veterans scored a solitary goal win over Bardez Veterans to advance into next round of the 4th All Goa Panjim Veterans soccer tournament played at Santa Cruz ground, on Tuesday.
The all-important goal came when Joaquim Fernandes’ long range short deflected off Bardez Veterans defender Mohan Parab’s leg and moved into the goal to beat Bardez goalkeeper Jude Fernandes hands down.
Thereafter, Bardez Veterans forward, former international and Arjuna awardee player, Bruno Coutinho’s power-pack short was thwarted by Quepem Veterans’ Chandrakant Naik (former Dempo SC player).
Superintendent of Customs Trevor Paiva was the chief guest and gave away the Man-of-the-Match award to Lawrence Quadros of Bardez Veterans.
