QUEPEM: Quepem Veterans had to wait until the tie-breaker to get past Varca Veterans with a 5-4 penalty shootout win and to clinch the 7th Quepem Veterans Cup, organised by Quepem Veterans and played at Condy ground, Quepem on Sunday.
Varca started the match brightly and should have opened their account in the 10th minute. Eddie’s strike from close was well blocked by Quepem keeper. At half time the scoreline was 0-0.
In the second half, Quepem played attacking football but their strikers missed two glorious chances. It remained 0-0 till the final whistle.
In the tie-breaker Jerry Krishna, Rasario, Teofilo,and Pascoal scored for Quepem while Charles, Hendry, Eddie and Urbano scored for Varca.
Quepem were richer by 30,000 and a trophy ,while Varca had to settle for Rs 25,000 and a trophy.

South Goa MP Francisco Sardinia was the chief guest for the final and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Alton D’Costa ( ex-Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Fatorpa and social worker ) and other dignitaries.
