Rachol Seminary Priests beat Youth of Sao Jose de Areal 4-3 via the tie-breaker to win the exhibition football match organised by Parish of Sao Jose de Areal at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal on Sunday. There was no score at regulation time.
Youth of Sao Jose de Areal held slight edge over their rivals and created many forays into the rival territory and nearly broke the deadlock when striker Volfie Andrade’s rasping drive hit the crossbar and later Raymond Fernandes’ try kissed the crossbar much to the dismay of the Sao Jose supporters.
In the tie-breaker, Mario Noronha, Richard Rodrigues, Gabriel Rodrigues and Elias Rebello were on target for the winners while Volfie Antao, Igantius Oliveira and Raymond Fernandes scored for Youth of Sao Jose de Areal.
Following prizes were awarded: Best goalkeeper: Agio Antao of Youth of Sao Jose de Areal. Best forward: Mario Noronha of Rachol Seminary Priests. Best player: Richard Rodrigues.
Fr Michael Fernandes, assistant parish priest, St Joseph Church, Sao Jose de Areal was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
