PANJIM: Rachol Seminarians overcame a stiff challenge from the Diocesan priests team as they emerged winners via the tie-breaker 4-2 to lift the 5th edition of the St Joseph Vaz Cup, organised by the John Paul II Foundation for Sports in collaboration with Our Lady of Remedios Church, Nerul, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, recently.
The match ended in a goalless draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, Sanford, Nion, Calburn and Denzil scored for the Rachol Seminarians while Fr Norbert and Fr Americo converted for the Diocesan priests.
The SFX, Pilar priests were awarded the Fair Play trophy. GFA President Elvis Gomes was the guest of the final along with Rector of SFX Seminary, Pilar Fr Peter D’Mello and Fr Agnelo Pinheiro.
