MAPUSA: Raia SC scored a narrow 2-1 win over Nerul SC in the Hotel Goan Heritage Unit of Goan Soccer Cup, organized by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Saturday.
The teams started in right earnest where it was Raia who took the lead in the 22nd minute when Daniel Gomes on getting hold of the ball from Mauricio Deus, fired the ball into the far end of the Nerul goal.
Five minutes on crossing over, Nerul managed to find the equalizer when Akash Banaulikar set the ball to Aniket Agarwadekar who coolly tapped the ball into the nets.
After several missed chances, Shiyan Fernandes netted in the match-winner for Raia in the 52nd minute through a long range effort.
