MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club got the better of Uguem’s Rising Club, Sanguem 3-1 via the tie-breaker to enter the semi-final of All-Goa Verna Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Verna Sports Club at Verna ground, on Monday . There was no score at the end of regulation period.
The encounter between Raia Sporting Club and Rising Club was explosive with both team forwards raided the rival goal but goalkeepers were rock solid under the bar as they brought up superlative saves to keep their citadel intact.
Raia nearly broke the deadlock but Joston Barbosa rasping shot miss the target narrowly.
Rising Club did not lag behind as striker Asyio full bloodied shot was well blocked by Raia goalkeeper.
Crossing over, both the teams adopted safety approach and their defenders stood tall in frustrating attacks. Both the teams failed to find a breakthrough, with the teams looked threatening each other citadel.
In the penalty shoot out, Joston Barbosa, Joao Pango and Rahul Dias converted for Raia Sporting Club while Asyio Fernandes was lone successful for Rising Club.
