Ram Krishnan tops at all-India FIDE rating chess tournament

PANJIM: Ram Krishnan emerged champion in the Late Shri Laxmikant V. Desai Memorial All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament organized by Ponda Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association and All India Chess Federation, at Wagle High School, Mangeshi, recently.

PANJIM: Ram Krishnan emerged champion in the Late Shri Laxmikant V. Desai Memorial All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament organized by Ponda Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association and All India Chess Federation, at Wagle High School, Mangeshi, recently.
GM Laxman R.R secured the second place while IM Ramnath Balasubramaniam bagged the third.
Mukund  Bhatt,  Ramakrishna  J,  Gajanan  Jayde,  Ritviz  Parab, Ameya  Audi,  Joshi  Tejas,  Chandar  Raju,  Bavankumar, Bachikar  Girish,  Prabhugaonkar  Aditee  Aman,  Parsekar Anirudh,  Krishnamoorthy  K,  Ramesh  Kumar  N,  Dias  Aston, Gaude  Sachin,  Thaga  Sheriff  M  and  Subba  Raju  S finished   fourth to 20th in open category respectively.
Best  Ponda  players:   1st  Vignesh  Sawant, 2nd  Milind  Gauns, 3rd  Datta  Bhika  Naik , 4th Avaneeshwar Guin, 5th Swayam Naik, 6th Devesh Naik, 7th Soham  Naik and 8th Kaushik Khedekar.
The consolation prizes were awarded to: Best U-15 boys: Prithvi Rajan, Gaurav Madkaikar. Girls: Ishani Bhat, Shridevi Kote.
Best U-13 boys: Ayush Shetkar, Yash Prabhu. Girls: Deepthi Lakshmi, Shravani Abhisheki. Best U-11 boys: Aayush Shirodkar, Vernon Colaco. Girls:  Tanvi Hadkonkar, Gunjal Chopdekar. Best U-9 boys: Reuben Colaco, Sairaj Vernekar: Girls: Sayuri Naik, Srilaxmi Kamat. Best U-7 boys: Parth Kamat, Shubham Sawaikar   U-7: Girija Pednekar, Shriya Patil.
Following are the ratings: Top four players from 1500-1999: Subramanian V, Benasir M, Ithal H. L. Rajath and Arunachalam Shivaa T.V. From 1000-1499: Suriya S. V, Aryagopal, Kartik Kumar Singh and Harish S.
Top four unrated players: Shaik Faryaz, Shivdatt Kuncolienkar, Diukar Tushar and Anchit Ajeet Naik. Best female (above 18): Pradnya Kakodkar.
Top five Goan players: Swera Ann Braganca, Shivank Kuncolienkar, Madhavan G, Kavish Gharse and Thorat Aishwarya. Chief guest Rajendra Desai, trustee, Desai Pratishtan, was the chief guest for the prize distribution function. 
Also present were  Kishor Bandekar, secretary, Goa  Chess Association; Sagar  Sakordekar, president, Ponda Taluka Chess Association  and  vice-president, Goa Chess Association; Amogh  Namshiker, secretary, Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Damodar  Naik, sarpanch, VP Veling-Priol-Kuncoliem; chief  arbiter Saleem  Beig  and  deputy  arbiter  Promodraj  Moree.  
Dr Shantanu Gauns compered while Amogh Namshiker proposed the vote of thanks. Mahesh  Khedekar, Sandip  Pagi, Vatan  Kuncolienkar, Sandesh Naik,  Jayashree Madkaikar, Claret  Shastry, Pramod  Kamat and Claret  Shastry  took  active  part  in  conducting  the  tournament.
