PANJIM: Ram Belliappa and Venkatesha defeated Abdul Salam and Arshad 6-4, 6-1 in the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open in the Men’s Veterans Doubles 110+ (Combined age) category on Sunday.
Goa witnessed a master class performance from Bhushan Akut and Vinayak Gujarati vs Rafiq Khotu and Merwyn Fernandes winning the first set 6-1, second set was a fight back from Rafiq Khotu and Merwyn Fernandes by winning the second set 6-3. Eventually it was Bhushan Akut and Vinayak Gujrati in the final set to seal the 120+ Doubles title with a score of 10-3 in the final set tie-breaker.
Karan Singh played some sublime tennis with a neck to neck battle to victory in the men’s veterans 45+ category to reach the final. Playing to a crowd of tennis fans, Karan Singh and Mano Chhabra were giving each other a tough time throughout the match.
