Raunak, Myron take commanding lead

PANJIM: Raunak Pai has won all six races held so far, taking an iron grip on the title in the Raceboard Youth Men’s class at the National Boardsailing Championship 2015 underway at Dolphin Adventure Sports, Dona Paula.

Myron Gomes has won five out of six races in the Techno293 Youth Men’s class, conceding today’s last race to his arch rival on the water, Russel Lobo. Along with Youth Olympian Katya Coelho and young Rhea Fernandes, who are locked in a fierce struggle for supremacy in the Raceboard Youth Women’s class.
In the meanwhile, Army Yachting Node’s four-time national champion K Sateppa parried the challenge of Goa’s young Dayne Coelho, comfortably winning races 5 and 6, in which he led from start to finish. Dayne had to be content with top honours in Race 4, when he trailed at the windward mark, but rallied to come from behind and overtake D P Chennaiah of AYN on the run. He then consolidated his lead on the second beat to win a close race.
In Raceboard Open Men’s class Manpreet Singh of AYN moved into the lead, winning Races 4 and 5, and coming second in Race 6. Manoj Kumar Kore won the Race 6, while P Murugan of Trishna Sailing Club, Bangalore, had to be content with two third places and a second place.
In the Topper India Grand Prix, honours were shared evenly as Tanishq Desai of Hyderabad, Charbelle Carmo Lobo of Goa, and Aniket Chatterjee of Goa took one race each. 
The Goa Topper programme, held at Cidade de Goa, includes basic training, coaching and racing. It is an attempt, launched by Adventure Breaks and the Goa Yachting Association, and sponsored by Cidade de Goa, to rebuild the state’s supremacy in sailing.
