RAIA: Hosts Rebello Pandal, Maina, blanked Miracles Boys, Sanguem, 2-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of the 17th Rebello Pandal All-Goa open football tournament played at St Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Thursday.
Both teams played decent soccer and had equal chance to score in first quarter of the game. For Rebello Pandal, William, Joaquim and Shelton created chances, while Frazer, Israel and Clifton played well for Miracles Boys. Scoredboard read 0-0 at the half time.
In the second half of play, Rebello Pandal scored in the 44th minute with powerful shoot from a close range through Joaquim Carvalho.
Soon Miracles Boys awarded penalty but Clifton penalty shoot hit the side of the goal post and went out. Later in the last quarter of the match, Shelton Fernandes of Rebello Pandal scored with a neat placement beating the rival goalkeeper in the 62nd minute.
Frazer Fernandes of Miracles Boys was presented the man-of-the-match by Rosario Fernandes, club member of Rebello Pandal.
