PANCHWADI: Rebello Pandal, Maina-Curtorim defeated YAC Mankem Shiroda 9-8 via the tie-breaker to clinch the St Francis Xavier Cup, played at Digas-Mapa Panchwadi ground, on Wednesday.
Rebello Pandal took the lead in the 6th minute through Raju but the joy was short-lived as Clencio equalised for YAC in the 23rd minute. The scores were level at the end of the regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Rebello Pandal Maina-Curtorim proved to be better shooters.
Rebello Pandal’s Raju bagged the best striker award while Bolu of Sanguem was named the goalkeeper of the tournament.
Fr Alvito Almeida parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church Panchwadi was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of other dignitaries and club officials.
