GUDI-PARODA: Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna & Infant Jesus HS, Colva moved into the second round of the 2nd Ramnath D. Volvotkar memorial inter-school football tournament organised by “Insight” The Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs & Charity of Gudi Paroda, at Gudi – Paroda ground, on Monday.
In the first match, Regina Martyrum High School shot-out St Rita’s HS, Maina–Curtorim 3-1 via the tie-breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw.
Shinoy Fernandes gave the lead for Regina Martyrm HS in the seventh minute off a pass from Idan Simoes.
St Rita’s HS fought brilliantly and equalised through Rihan Badegar of Regan Rebello’s through pass in the 48thminute. Shinoy Fernandes of Regina Martyrum HS was declared as player-of-the-match.
In the second match, Infant Jesus HS, Colva scored a solitary goal win over Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim.
The match was evenly poised as both the teams missed scoring opportunities.
The all important goal of the match was scored by Aman Kumar in the 19th minute. Perpetual Succour Convent HS completely dominated the proceedings in the second session but were unlucky at several occasions. Suraj Rathod of Infant Jesus HS, Colva was adjudged as player-of-the- match.
