PONDA: Nuvem Veterans trounced Fatorda Veterans 5-0 in the final of 1st all-Goa Assolda Veterans football tournament 2016 organized by Quepem Veterans at Quepem ground, recently.
Remy Colaco scored four goals while Santan Furtado added one goal. The first half was equally matched with referee Menino having hard time controlling the tempo of the match while second half was dominated by the winners.
Nuvem Veterans opened the account when Martin gave a diagonal pass to Remy who beat former international goalkeeper Chandrikant Naik to make it 1-0. Then Johnny well known as Pele from top of the box fired a powerful shot but Anand under Nuvem Veterans goal dived full length to punch the ball for a corner.
In the second half, Santan passed the ball to Remy who dogged a defender and blast the ball into the nets to make it 2-0.
Within eight minutes, Nuvem Veterans scored another three goals. Santan Furtado from the center chipped over the defender and Remy took a volley beating Fatorda Veterans keeper 3-0 to complete his hat-trick.
Vincent started the move from his own half, dogged three Fatorda Veterans players and released a through pass to Remy whose shot again entered the nets to make it 4-0. Towards the end, Santan dogged two defenders as well as the keeper to score the fifth goal.
Chief guest Velim MLA Benjamin Silva distributed the prizes.
The following prizes were awarded: Highest scored of tournament Vishant Pednekar, Best goalkeeper Anand Arkondkar (Nuvem Veterans) and Man-of-the-final Remy Colaco.
