Reuben, Sairaj excel at Nat amateur chess

AGENCIES, BHOPAL: Goa’s Reuben Colaco finished joint second with 7.5 points at the 8th National Amateur Chess Championship, held at Bhopal, on Sunday.
Gujarat’s Anadkat Kartavya won the championship with eight points, who was tied along with four others –Srikanth K, Mahindrakar I, Pradeep T and Trivedi, however, finished first with better tie-break point. Reuben Colaco was tied on points with Tanmay Chopra with 7.5 points. Meanwhile, Sairaj Vernekar of Goa finished joint 3rd with 7 points. Devesh Naik scored 6.5pts and Aryan Raikar scored 5.5pts. In All 166 players from all over India participated in championship.
