VASCO: Rising Stars Sports Club and Chicalim Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association’s Second Division League (Mormugao Zone) match played at Chicalim ground, on Friday.
Chicalim SC started the match on an attacking note and tried to shoot into the lead from the start, however, Rising Stars defenders guarded their fortress well enough to keep the rivals at bay.
It was in the 35th minute that Chicalim SC managed to find the breakthrough after Domnic Micheal slotted the ball past the rival keeper to make it 1-0.
Struck by reverse, Rising Stars SC tried their level best to come back into the game and tried to attack, Chicalim SC’s player Arivin Prasad in an attempt to block the rival attack was booked in the 41st minute for rankles tackle. Earlier, Shivraj nearly gave Chicalim lead but his well executed free-kick was brilliantly saved by the rival keeper.
Post resumption, the revitalised Rising Stars SC came back stronger and made it all square in the 65th minute through Ulgappa Madari’s strike.
In another match at BITS Pilani ground, Cortalim Villagers defeated BITS Football Club 2-0. Francisco Travares opened the scoring for the Cortalim side in the 4th minute while Mevren Cruz doubled their lead in the 77th minute to make it 2-0.
