MAPUSA: Ritika Chelluri emerged as the star player of the All-Goa Major Ranking Badminton Tournament, organised by Mapusa Shuttlers under the aegis of Goa Badminton Association at Peddem, winning a triple crown. Chelluri triumphed in the girls singles U-15 by defeating Aaryaa Metry 21-10, 21-8, and continued her winning streak in the girls doubles U-15 with partner Dimple Revankar, overcoming Aaryaa Metry and Saanvi Audi 21-14, 21-16. Ritika completed her hat-trick by clinching the girls singles U-19 title, beating Shreya Mehta 21-17, 21-11.
Shaheen C K, Arjun Bhagat, Shane D’Souza, and Amaira Dhumatkar each secured double crowns in their respective categories. In boys singles U-9, Vihaan Sahakari defeated Priyansh Sawant Dessai 15-9, 15-7, while Amaira Dhumatkar dominated the girls singles U-9 by beating Anvitha Poojari 15-1, 15-5 and later won the girls singles U-11 title against Kanika Pai Vernekar 15-11, 15-6. Arjun Bhagat triumphed in boys singles U-19 against Yash Desai 21-10, 24-22 and also secured the boys doubles U-19 title with Shaheen C K. Shaheen further claimed victory in mixed doubles U-19 alongside Sufiya Shaikh. Shane D’Souza, despite losing to Aarush Pawaskar by 21-1, 21-14 in boys singles U-15, came back strongly. He paired with Arnav Saraf to win the boys doubles U-15, and partnered with Saanvi Audi to capture the mixed doubles U-15 title.
In the other finals, Michael Mare dominated boys singles U-11, defeating Pratik Naik Borkar 15-1, 15-8. The boys doubles U-11 saw Pratik Naik Borkar and Varun Sahakari triumph over Arha Sahakari and Vedh Lotlikar with a score of 15-11, 15-9. Shreya Mehta and Twinkle Sullad emerged victorious in girls doubles U-19 by overcoming Shivanjali Thite and Sufiya Shaikh 17-21, 21-10, 21-12.
Ansh Chaurasia and Sparsh Kolwalkar (U-15 BD), Arnav Saraf and Niharika Parwar (U-15 XD), Ashmeet Parsekar and Parth Joshi (U-19 BD) and Rudra Phadte and Aarohi Coutoncar (U-19 XD) were the other players who secured runners-up places.
GBA President Manoj Patil and Mapusa Shuttlers office bearers Aniket Shenai, Nikhil Prabhu Moye, Dr Pandrinath Audi and Kewal Sawant were among those who graced the closing function.
