PANJIM: Ritviz Parab and Ameya Audi got the better of Anirudh Bhat and Anant Prabhudessai respectively to garner five points each after five rounds in the under-15 Open State chess championships.
Ritviz and Ameya are in the joint lead.
On the third board, second seed Rohan Ahuja defeated Anirudh Parsekar with Two Knights Defence while on the fourth board, Kapil Pawse grounded Gaurav Madkaikar against Caro-Kann Defence. Rohan Ahuja, Anirudh Bhat, Kapil Pawse, Rajas Chari, M Barath, Vageesh Tendulkar, Milind Gauns, Deeptesh Karmalkar, Datta Kambli are on four points each.
Meanwhile, in the girls category, Urvi Bandekar emerged sole leader with four points after four rounds by defeating U-13 and U-17 girls State champion, Aditee Prabhugaonkar in the third round and Gunjal Chopdekar in the fourth round.
On the other hand, Aditee shocked top seed Gauri Hadkonkar with Sicilian Wing Gambit.
Aishwarya Thorat has 3.5 points while Riddhi Zantye, Aditee and Reema Naik have three points each.
