PANJIM: Ritviz Parab from Salcete Taluka secured the first place at the all-Goa open FIDE rated rapid chess tournament organized by Ponda Sports and Cultural Club, at sports complex, Curti-Ponda, recently.
Ritviz was awarded Rs 10,000 and a trophy. Gaurav Marcaikar from Ponda stood second and bagged Rs 5,000 and a trophy while Umang Kaisare from Tiswadi settled for the third place and took home Rs 3,000 and a trophy.
Prize distribution was held by PWD minister Sudin Davlikar, Ponda MLA Lavu Mamlatdar, Sagar Sacordekar, Vishnu Naik, Sadashiv Pandit, Beni Fernandes and Ponda SCC Club president, Nilesh Polji.
The other first twenty winner from the fourth to the 20th places include Barath M, Sudhakar Patgar, Audi Ameya, Adithi, Sahil Desai, Pranav Zante, Akash Chondankar, Urvi Bandekar, Aishwarya Thorath, Ridhikesh Vernekar, Saish Avdi, Anant Prabudesai, Asmit Kumar, Sanjay Thorath, Lan Rodrigues, Milind Gava and Mrunal Telang.
In the man above 40 category, Sachin Kakodakar stood first while in the woman above twenty age group Pradnya Kakodkar topped.
Below six years, Arush Fatarpekar and Preet Kurtikar, under-8 Lav Kakodkar and Trusha Hammanavar, under-10 Leon Mendonsa, Alen Pereira, Under-12 Viraj Porab, Pranali Naik, below 14 Naveen Morajkar, Ameesha Kumar bagged top honours.
