RAIA: Rosary Boys, Davorlim outplayed Zico Boys, Verna, 6-2, to enter the semi-finals of 17th Rebello Pandal All-Goa Open football tournament, organised by Rebello Pandal, Maina, and played at St Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim on Wednesday.
Zico Boys, Verna, made an early mark by scoring the first goal in the 4th minute through a header by Clifton Fernandes. However, Rosary Boys swiftly regrouped, seizing control of the game and turning the tide in their favour. Vellon Rebello netted two quick goals in the 16th and 22nd minutes, heading into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
In the second half, Rosary Boys maintained their dominance, scoring three additional goals in the 35th, 38th, and 45th minutes. Vellon Rebello completed his hat trick, while Prince Figueredo and Benny Figueredo also contributed to the score sheet. Despite Zico Boys’ efforts, they managed to score in the 56th minute with a volley from the box by Abhikesh. As time dwindled, Vellon Rebello of Davorlim added another goal in the dying moments of the game.
Clifton Fernandes of Zico Boys, Verna was awarded man-of-the-match trophy from Anthony Rodrigues.
